Selected for the Senior Graduating Exhibition, I created a 4 × 4 ft painting, two 12 × 12 in paintings, and an accompanying book focusing on how symbols can become distorted when they are moved further from the community or context they were created in. This distortion can happen through endless reproduction or reinterpretation. Its meaning can grow, fade, or shift over time, changing what it once meant. Using Jesus as an example, together these works explore how he has been depicted across cultures, modern media, and tattoo imagery.
